The next regular membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 17th. 2010 at 7:00 pm at the St. George Romanian Cultural Center.
Charles Edsalls' son, Daniel, graduated on June 10th. from Navy A. School at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. He has been assigned to work in a hospital in Japan for the next two years. Congratulations Daniel.
Congratulations to Michael and Diane Krebs on the June 24th. birth of their third son, Austin. He joins his big brothers, Tyler and Brayden. Very proud grandpa is 636 member Loren.
Happy Birthday to 60 year member, Retiree Frank Harney who just celebrated his 91st. birthday on July 12th.
Sincere condolences are extended to Roger Owens the July 10th. sudden passing of his son, 636 Apprentice Joshua.

The Annual Pipefitters Picnic will be held on Saturday, August 7th. from 11am to 5pm at Willow Metro Park in the Washago Pond Picnic Area in New Boston, I-275 Exit 11A (S. Huron Rd.) There will be fishing, swimming, paddle boats, bike rental, hot dogs, chicken, hamburgers, corn roast and refreshments. Everyone is asked to please bring a dish to pass. Volunteers are needed to help out in all areas so please if you can volunteer, call Steve Spurlock at the Union Hall or Lance Pesci at 248-476-0019.
Pipe Trades Motorcycle Association: Anyone interested in joining please contact PTMAMEMBERSHIP@yahoo.com. You must be a UA card carrying member. This is a family oriented riding group that does things to raise money for various charities and who also get together and ride in solidarity and just for fun.
All unemployed members are encouraged to keep their MUST Safety Modules current. Please contact the Training Center so that you can be registered to take your modules. Several Classes are being offered at the Training Center which includes certifications. There is no charge for unemployed members.
Red Seal Information: Contact the Training Center to get your Red Seal Ticket for Canadian Work Opportunities, they are now offering classes.
Worker Assistance Program: Work Life Strategies, LLC are available to our members and their families to provide personal counseling services and when needed, referral to other professionals. Call 248-545-8301 to talk to a counselor for issues relating to grief, alcohol and or drug addiction, bankruptcy, financial management, marital, depression, legal and family counseling. Consultations with Work Life Strategies are a service paid for by the Insurance Fund. Referrals to outside professionals, if needed, will be paid for according to the current health care plan benefits.
Retirees Organization: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 19th. at 11:30 am. The speaker at this meeting will be Jenny Jarvis from the Area Agency of Aging 1B. She will speak about Medicare issues and offer new information about some positive changes for seniors in the new Federal Health Care Policy. There will also be an election of new officers for the Retirees at this meeting. The meeting will be held at the Elks club located at 2401 E. Fourth St. in Royal Oak (south of 11 Mile Rd and west of I-75 service drive – next to Belle Tire. We would like to thank Michael Hodges who was the guest speaker at our last meeting. We invite all UA retirees and their spouses along with our many widows to join us at our next meeting. Dues are $12.00 per year – widow’s dues are gratis. A deli lunch is available for $6.00.
