Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Union Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 16th has been cancelled.

Any member that has returned to work from a temporary layoff please notify the Business Agent on dispatch that you are back to work. It is your responsibility not the contractor’s

Our most sincere condolences go out to the families of recently deceased retirees, Robert Richardson, Donald Otremba, Ronald Erdman, James Larkin and Allen Schirrick. As information for Memorial Services is received we will pass it on. May they all rest in peace.

The “early start 5 week boot camp” Apprentice class has resumed as of June 1, 2020 they have 2 weeks remaining to complete their 5 week program, then they will be ready to be dispatched to work. There is no definite date yet as to when the other Apprentice classes will resume.

The Leadership of Local 636 is doing our best to balance the concerns of our members in regards to their health with the concerns of the health of our Union, Trust Funds and Industry.  We encourage everyone to fill the calls we are receiving for jobs where all the OSHA regulations regarding working safely are being followed.  These jobs must be filled. If the hours are not worked by our members they will be worked by Travelers, which doesn’t help our Union or our Trust Funds as the money is sent to the Traveler’s Home Local.  In situations where a member doesn’t have COVID, isn’t caring for someone with COVID or eligible under any of the other relaxed rules of the State of MI regarding unemployment benefits; we ask you to take available work, and it is your choice if you do not, but please understand SUB benefits will not paid in these instances where Traveler fitters are dispatched.

May all of you and your families stay safe and healthy.

In Solidarity,

Terry A. Gilligan
