The next Regular Union Meeting will be June 20, 2017 at the St. George Romanian Cultural Center at 18405 West 9Mile Rd Southfield MI 48075. Meeting starts at 7:00pm. Members are reminded to bring their Membership card & photo ID to be eligible to vote on the Bylaws proposed.
There will be a special class for the HDPE fusion welding at the Training Center on Monday June 5th & Thursday June 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 and they will do testing on Monday June 12th. Those who pass the class will have an opportunity to go to the Ford R&D Facility job in Dearborn.
The Retirees are having their 11th Annual Retiree’s Golf Outing. This year it will be held at The Saint Clair Shores Country Club. It will be on Friday June 23, 2017 with an 8:00am shotgun start. It’s a 4 man scramble format and cost is $50 per person. That will include golf cart, snack at the turn and a steak dinner immediately following. Prizes will be awarded immediately after dinner. The Pipefitters extend our deepest condolences to the Families of Brother Paul MacDonald who passed away on March 30, 2017, Brother Robert Rose who passed away on May 11, 2017, Brother Michael Dunaway who passed away on May 13, 2017, and to Brother Charles Stroth who passed away on May 14, 2017.
We would also like to extend our condolences to the Families of Brother James Shumaker Sr. on the passing of this wife Evelyn Shumaker, she passed away on May 6, 2017. Evelyn was the mother of Brothers Mark and Rick Shumaker, mother in law to Brother Mitchell Gaska and grandmother to Brother John Gaska. Also to Brothers Tim and Mike Pierce on the passing of their mother Charmayne Pierce, who passed away on May 8, 2017. Charmayne was also the wife of deceased member, Brother Edgar Pierce. And to the family of Marjorie Burrow on the passing of her father Joseph Gabriel, who passed away on April 1, 2017.
New 2017 Dues Card: If not already you will all be receiving your New 2017 Dues card in the mail. As you may notice on the back of the card you will no longer need to have the card stamped there will be a new scanning system allowing whoever needs to know your Dues information to scan your card. 2017 “Window” Union Dues: Local 636 Union Dues structure will remain the same for 2017 as 2016. $29.00 per month, $87.00 per quarter or $348.00 per year.
Dues: If you do not pay your Dues by the end of each quarter, then you will be charged a Reinstatement fee of $50 at the start of the month following that quarter.
Defined Contribution Pension Plan: For those members who use the Voice Response Unit, VRU to obtain balance information and transfers funds in your Defined Contribution Pension, the number has changed. The new number for the VRU is 877-410-9984. Plan provider number is 7526.
You can now login to your Defined Contribution account on the Local’s website. Just click on the “Defined Contribution login here tab” and it will take you to the BeneSys login page. The Defined Contribution website is www.yourplanaccess.com/benesys.
Are you “Work Ready”?
Have any of your safety modules expired? Is your Drug Test current? Check your report card at mustbsafe.org and if it is time for renewal call the Training Center 248-585-0636 and they will register you. Be “ready” when the calls come in. Safety modules and drug tests are paid for by the Contractors Association. WHEN YOU STAY CURRENT WITH YOUR SAFETY MODULES, DRUG TEST AND FIRST AID, YOU WILL QUALIFY FOR FUTURE BONUS PAYMENT’S.
The Activate Health Clinic is available to Local 636 members as a MUST DRUG TEST SITE. Again, the address is 555 Horace Brown Drive, Madison Hts. 48071 on the second floor above Plumbers Local 98. Simply call to make an appointment – 248-268-4477.
Financial Planning: Call Jason May at Morgan Stanley 248-258-1750 for assistance and consultation relating to your Defined Contribution Investments. He will help with a total financial plan if requested. Services are paid for by the Defined Contribution Fund.
Recovery Support Group: Pipe Dreamers, a Peer Support Recovery group for ongoing recovery from substance abuse and addiction meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:30pm at the office of “Work Life Strategies” 26789 Woodward Avenue, Suite 3105, Huntington Woods 48070. Call 248-545-8301 for details or any questions you may have.
Also, a Relations/Divorce Support Group meet on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 6pm.
Worker Assistance Program: Work Life Strategies, LLC are available to our members and their families to provide personal counseling services and when needed, referral to other professionals. Call 248-545-8301 to talk to a counselor for issues relating to grief, alcohol and or drug addiction, bankruptcy, financial management, marital, depression, legal and family counseling. Consultations with Work Life Strategies are a service paid for by the Insurance Fund. Referrals to outside professionals, if needed, will be paid for according to the current health care plan benefits.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday June 22, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Elks club located at 2401 E. Fourth St. in Royal Oak (south of 11 Mile Rd. and west of I-75 service drive – next to Belle Tire. The guest speaker will be CJ Harrison who will be speaking on the topic of vitamins and supplements. We invite all UA retirees and their spouses along with our widows to join us at our next meeting. Dues are $12.00 per year, widow’s dues are zero. A deli lunch is available for $6.00.
